Biotechnology

Any foil that is best suitable or prescribed can be applied. For those interested, a foil is available showing outstanding qualifications for use in biopharmaceutical processing.

Foil for biotechnology

Becoming acquainted with the biotech market, we experienced that the foil to be used for the bags is always an important issue and in many cases appeared to be a bottleneck. Medistad is an independent company and will use any type of foil that is best suitable for an application or that is prescribed by our customer. We have experience with all kinds of foil with different fluid contact layers such as LDPE, EVA or PVC. Most foils are multi-layers with an EVOH barrier and nylon, EVA, LDPE or PVC on the outside.

The majority of the market seems to be developing towards an LDPE fluid contact layer and an EVOH barrier. Furthermore, there appears to be a strong preference to offer the same foil for all bags, from 50 ml to 1,500 litres. For those companies that do not have access to a commercially available foil or that are considering alternatives, we have taken the initiative to have a foil developed that shows outstanding qualifications for use in biopharmaceutical processing. An extensive report can be made available, including the technical datasheet and analysis performed against USP class VI, USP 661, ISO 10993 -4, -5, -6, -10 and -11 and EP conformity analysis.
